SUMMARY:
Day One is preparing to launch its lead asset, DAY101, in pediatric Low-Grade Glioma (pLGG). This product is poised to be the first ever approved therapy for pLGG. We are seeking a Sr. Director of Marketing who will be dedicated to leading the marketing function in support of the DAY101 launch. In this role, you will be a key member of the commercial launch team, leading all aspects of marketing in support of the launch. You will be responsible for hiring, developing, and leading the marketing team for DAY101. You will have a key role in leading brand and tactical planning for marketing as well as creating key brand identity elements, including brand concept development, branded and unbranded messaging, as well as the tactical execution of this work.
The right candidate is an independent and flexible professional who can think strategically about this launch while also leading a team in the tactical execution of the launch. As a marketing leader in a small company, you will not only need to be an inspiring leader to your team, but also take on specific launch projects as needed. We are looking for a passionate self-starter, who has experience with product launches, and who will thrive in a small company environment. This position will have 2-3 direct reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead brand strategy for DAY101 in pLGG, in support of the first product launch for Day One Biopharmaceuticals
- Responsible for building brand and tactical plans for DAY101, for the initial launch indication and follow-on indications, as part of DAY101’s lifecycle plan.
- Responsible for overseeing the creation of the brand identity and narrative for DAY101
- Oversee the development and execution of the pre-launch market development efforts for DAY101, including the unbranded campaign, thought leader engagement strategy, and medical congress strategy
- Hire, build, and lead high performing marketing team in support of the DAY101 launch
- Represent the marketing function on the Launch Team, Commercial Executive Team, and periodically at Executive Leadership Team meetings
- Advise on the design and build out of internal systems and structures to support the creation of the commercial organization at Day One Biopharmaceuticals
- Accountable for recommending launch performance metrics and achieving launch performance goals
- Collaborate closely with sales, analytics, and market access leads to ensure integration and alignment of activities to support the DAY101 launch
- Accountable for managing the relationship with the Agency of Record, ensuring appropriate personnel and expertise are staffed on team and ensuring a healthy relationship between Day One and the agency.
- Support the professional development of team members, through ongoing coaching, and support development opportunities outside of team members’ core roles, that are aligned to their professional aspirations.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
· BA/BS in business and/or science required, MBA or advanced degree highly desired
· 10+ years of experience in relevant positions, within a commercial organization at a biotech/pharmaceutical company or within a consulting firm or investment bank, specializing in life sciences
· 5+ years of relevant experience in leading marketing and/or sales teams
· Experience leading a team or function through a product launch is preferred
· Launch experience in oncology, rare disease, and/or rare pediatrics is preferred
· Ability to work effectively on cross functional teams in support of a product launch
· Ability to leverage analytical thinking and market research insights to inform decision making
· Ability to think critically and balance strategic awareness and direction setting with consistent tactical results
· Understanding and/or experience working within a small biotech approaching first product launch
· Excellent communicator, with demonstrated ability to adapt communications content and style depending on audience.
- Ability to lead, influence, resolve conflict and drive decisions among diverse cross functional stakeholders
- Effective resource/vendor management
- Can determine the appropriate use of internal vs. external resources and delivers results on time and on budget
