Unfinished is a start up working to strengthen our civic life in the digital age. We operate across disciplines—from editorial partnerships to live events and the development of a decentralized social networking protocol—to realize an ambitious vision for a thriving multiracial democracy and an equitable economy.

Unfinished is advancing a concrete solution through Project Liberty, a technological initiative with the potential to transform how the internet works and who benefits from the digital economy. Project Liberty aims to create a new civic architecture for the next generation of the internet that prioritizes people over platforms, returns the ownership and control of personal data to individuals, reflects a commitment to ethics and shared values, and expands economic opportunities for both users and developers.

As our Digital Director, you will play a central role in this mission by building a movement of diverse stakeholders towards a more equitable digital future, engaging audiences on social media and other digital platforms.

You will develop and execute audience engagement and growth strategies across formats—including but not limited to native posts on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram; podcasts; live panel discussions; and video—in service of expanding our reach and activating new populations.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in audience development and a drive to experiment. It reports into our Studio team.

Unfinished is unlike others: Our creative work is deeply integrated with a Labs team building new social media products, a Network team uniting social impact leaders from a variety of backgrounds, and an Institute creating research and relationships at the heart of academia and policy-making. Thus, the specific needs of this position will evolve rapidly.

You may oscillate, for example, between developing a strategy to expand our newsletter audience and assembling the perfect Twitter Spaces conversation about what the internet can learn from trees. (A real panel discussion we held at last year’s Unfinished Live event!  Watch it for yourself: https://unfinished.com/news/what-the-internet-can-learn-from-trees/) A healthy intellectual appetite, collaborative spirit, and unyielding flexibility are key attributes. Deep curiosity about technology—especially web3—and social impact are also must-haves.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk!
