Role Overview
Sakuu is seeking an R&D Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and scale manufacturing processes supporting advanced battery and materials technologies. This role sits at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, and printing-based manufacturing, and will play a critical part in transitioning novel processes from R&D into production.
Key Responsibilities
•    Develop, characterize, and optimize manufacturing processes for advanced materials and battery components with an emphasis on new and innovative disruptive technologies
•    Design and execute experiments to improve yield, throughput, reliability, and quality
•    Collaborate with materials scientists, chemists, and mechanical engineers to translate lab-scale processes into scalable manufacturing workflows
•    Support process integration for printing-based manufacturing technologies
•    Analyze process data and implement continuous improvement methodologies
•    Document processes, establish control plans, and support technology transfer to production
•    Troubleshoot process issues related to materials, equipment, or scale-up challenges
Required Qualifications
•    PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field strongly preferred
•    Solid understanding of process engineering principles and experimental design
•    Hands-on experience working in a laboratory or pilot-scale manufacturing environment
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Experience & Expertise
•    Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology, including materials, manufacturing processes, or cell architecture
•    Experience with polymer chemistry, including formulation, curing, or materials characterization
•    Familiarity with printing or additive manufacturing technologies, such as ink-based, slurry-based, or multi-material printing processes
•    Experience with powder and bulk solids technology, including handling, flow, mixing, compaction, or processing
•    Experience scaling processes from R&D to pilot or production environments
