About Sakuu

Sakuú is reinventing manufacturing via a total process shift. The transformative Kavian platform technology enables mass-scale, cost-effective, and sustainable production to meet global demands in various industries. Today, Sakuú focuses this expertise in 3D print technology and process knowledge to redefine battery and energy storage manufacturing with our Kavian platform for dry electrode manufacturing. With increasing interest in dry technology in battery manufacturing and a need for scale and cost-effective solutions, we are accelerating our scaling efforts and getting tools on our customers’ manufacturing floors.

The Role – Responsibilities

The Senior Process Engineer will be a technical leader responsible for driving process development, scale-up, and daily operation on the Kavian dry electrode tool. This person will own high impact DOE design, analysis, and process optimization, while mentoring process engineers and shaping the roadmap for manufacturability, yield improvement, and throughput scale-up. They will be hands-on with equipment and process, leading investigations and experiment execution.

  • Lead process development and optimization for dry electrode coating using the Kavian platform through data analysis and fundamental process and materials understanding.
  • Plan DOE initiatives to establish robust process parameter windows, scaling behaviors, and high-yield operating recipes.
  • Guide other engineers in experimental planning and analysis
  • Drive root cause investigations for failure modes, defects, and process instabilities using structuring troubleshooting techniques.
  • Develop system-level control strategies for Kavian processes.
  • Collaborate closely with materials, equipment, controls, and product engineering teams to translate R&D into production-ready processes.
  • Coach, guide, and help scale a process engineering team through proper project management, data reviews, and elevating engineering rigor.
  • Own technical documentation and communication for cross functional and customer facing reviews.
  • Support scaling pilot and high-volume manufacturing, including FAT/SAT, equipment improvements, and technology transfers.

What You Bring – Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in energy, battery, printing, roll-to-roll, or materials engineering.
  • Proven experience designing, executing, and analyzing DOEs.
  • Demonstrated ability to run and optimize processes hands-on with the equipment.
  • Strong analytical competency with statistical analyses and process capability metrics.
  • Experience building technical reports for cross functional communication and technical review.
  • Technical leadership experience driving design decisions, setting experimental direction, and working with junior engineers.

Nice to Haves

  • Direct experience in battery electrode fabrication or related processes.
  • Prior experience of scaling process from R&D to Pilot to Production.
  • Deep experience with statistical process modeling software and DOE design.
  • SPC implementation and yield improvement experience
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving frameworks like FMEA, PFMEA, 8D, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with automation/controls engineers for in-line monitoring and closed-loop feedback.
  • Experience in start-up or fast-paced environments where ambiguity is common.
