Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Sakuu located in San Jose, CA. The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for overseeing health & safety, environmental health and safety (EHS), occupational health, accident investigation, and training programs to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe work environment.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing EHS or similar programs in the energy storage / similar materials
  • EHS experience, including working-level project leadership and department or functional area management is preferred
  • Experience with acquisitions and risk and liability management is preferred
  • Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in science or engineering
  • EHS-related licenses, certifications and/or membership in EHS professional associations are desired
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to work within a team, take directions from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, exhibit excellent follow-through, focus attention to details, and follow work rules
  • Must be able to work autonomously as situation dictates
  • Good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate system requirements verbally and in writing
 
Job Duties
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Engage regulatory and entities as needed to ensure compliance
  • Promotes and ensures a safe environment for employees and the general public while on premises
  • Conducts safety knowledge shares as needed / required
  • Provides safety support for materials and equipment handling, compliance, and installation
  • Maintains close contact with assigned areas and locations resolving safety sensitive issues
  • Drives adherence to strict action plans for maintaining a safe work environment and regulatory compliance
  • Manages safety meetings, training programs, safety reviews and other meetings as needed to remain current on any changes or upgrades
  • Develops and enhances safety policies and procedures
  • Provides safety and compliance training as required
  • Provides consultation and recommendations for safety, fire protection and emergency response issues
  • Surveys compliance to Policy and Procedures relating to safety and implements policies and procedures for compliance with OSHA regulations and other regulatory agencies as needed
