Controller/ Assistant Controller

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for day-to-day general ledger transactions and accounting operations
  • Responsible for all month-end-close journal entries, and financial statement package submission to management for review
  • Cash and bank management, and preparation of weekly cash forecast
  • Payroll and related activities
  • Equity portal management (CARTA) – Stock Administration
  • Preparation of presentation package for various board meetings
  • Assist in submission and review of annual tax returns
  • Assist with preparation of budget and forecast
  • Ability to manage and lead the audits, with external auditors, as needed
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting,
  • Effectively select, manage, and retain staff by training employees,
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
  • Assist leadership with important financial decisions
  • Understand company’s financial status to meet legal requirements and keep the company in good standing
  • Stay current on accounting standards to identify issues as they arise

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • At least 10 years’ experience in related field, and 3 years in a team management position,
  • Experience with manufacturing is a strong plus
  • CPA is a strong plus
  • Experience with CARTA is a plus
  • Broad-based knowledge of advanced financial accounting and external reporting concepts, as well as processes including knowledge of GAAP, and internal controls
  • Well-developed organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize work effectively and adjust to changing demands
  • Ability to maintain a positive approach to work challenges
  • Ability to communicate complex issues, clearly and effectively, to senior leaders
  • Excellent understanding of governmental guidelines, tax laws that affect the company
  • Fluent in Microsoft office and accounting software programs
  • The ability and confidence to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, Board Members, and investors

 

 

Location

Sakuú’s culture is best experienced in person, and selected candidates will be expected to work 100% onsite at our South San Jose location.  Remote work schedules are not available.

 

Relocation assistance is not available for this position. 

 

 

 

The estimated compensation range for a new hire in this position is $ 170,000 to $ 190,000. Actual compensation may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, Sakuú offers full-time employees a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan.
