Position Overview:
The Student Assistant will provide project assistance for University Operations IT staff in support of our campus community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level technical support to faculty, staff, and students for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Assist with classroom and office technology maintenance, performing routine checks, and reporting technical problems as needed.
- Support the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment for classrooms, meetings, and events.
- Perform data entry and assist in tracking IT equipment and supplies inventory.
- Help prepare user manuals and assist in conducting user training sessions to improve technology adoption and ease of use.
- Follow IT department policies and procedures to ensure security and compliance with university or company standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.

Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Google Mail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs.

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude

Providing excellent customer service

Basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and troubleshooting.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes
Minimum Qualifications:

Be a full time student at SFBU

Have a high school diploma
-
Previous experience in an IT support role (preferred but not required).
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Job duties typically performed in an office environment.
- Physical demands may include lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, and sitting.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods.
This position will be 1 to 4 days a week for 4 to 5 hours a day (no more than 20 hours per week).
Salary Range: $18-$22 per hour; part-time; non-exempt.
