Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a transformative mindset to join our team as an AI strategist. This role reports directly to the Vice President for Strategy and Innovation, and plays a pivotal role in shaping SFBU’s future as a leader in AI education and integration.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Develop an overall AI strategy for the institution, positioning SFBU as a leader in AI-integrated education.

  • Create a comprehensive AI policy and a supporting handbook to help faculty, staff, and students maximize the use of AI tools in a responsible and ethical manner.

  • Partner with Center for Empowerment & Pedagogical Innovation (CEPI) to create relevant training and onboarding materials for AI tools, benefiting both new and existing faculty members.

  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to identify opportunities for incorporating AI tools and methodologies in their courses

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions periodically to keep the university community informed about AI developments.

  • Offer training and workshops for students, maximizing their learning using AI tools.

  • Ensure that AI ethics policies are consistently updated and shared across the community.

  • Build strong relationships with industry leaders and research institutions in the field of AI to stay abreast of developments and foster innovation within the university community.

  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Strategy and Innovation to identify AI developments that should be integrated into the university ecosystem.

  • Keeping university leadership informed about the latest AI trends and updating policies accordingly, reflecting the institution’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.

 

Required Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering,  or related fields such as Information Technology, Educational Technology, Cognitive Science, Management Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Philosophy, or Ethics (with a focus on technology and AI ethics), Education (with a focus on educational technology or instructional design), Public Policy (with a focus on technology and ethics), Library and Information Science (with a focus on data and technology management).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and implementing AI solutions

  • Experience of working in a university setting is a plus

Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
