Student Life Manager 

 

San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), a small-sized nonprofit, WASC-accredited, university situated in the heart of Silicon Valley in Fremont, California. SFBU is a new and rebranded university currently offering degrees in computer science (BS, MS), electrical engineering (MS), business (BABS/MBA/MSBan/MSDS), and professional educational programs.

The Student Life Manager at SFBU will oversee all student clubs and organizations, with a focus on providing equitable and responsive services to student leaders and members. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs,  they will develop and implement programs and student events focused on the social, educational, recreational, wellness, diverse, and inclusive needs of students. The position will also facilitate leadership opportunities for students and serve as a liaison between students and off-campus entities, vendors, talent agents, staff, faculty, and the general public. They will collaborate on budget development and management for student activities boards, clubs, and organizations..

 

Note: Exempt, full time position, located in Fremont, California. Candidates must reside in the local area or willing to locate. 

 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

1. Student Engagement, Programming, and Leadership (60%):

  • Plan, manage, and implement diverse social, recreational, and educational programs, ensuring theoretical soundness and inclusivity throughout the academic year.

  • Lead large-scale events, collaborating with student organizations and departments.

  • Provide leadership to student organizations, including training for leaders and support for off-campus events.

  • Develop and enhance club and organization guidelines annually, ensuring compliance with university policies and effective advisor support.

  • Foster a culturally sensitive campus environment.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise student staff.

  • Advise student organizations, guiding event planning, promotion, and compliance.

  • Facilitate student leadership opportunities through workshops, conferences, and coaching.

  • Facilitate student leadership awards and recognition programs.

 

2. Administrative Responsibilities (30%):

  • Manage day-to-day operations of student-sponsored events and activities, including budget management and evaluation.

  • Develop and implement training programs for club members and advisors.

  • Administer the Peer Mentorship Program, collaborating with stakeholders and overseeing budgets.

  • Support budget development and requests for Student Life programming.

  • Coordinate with faculty and staff on student services and academic programs.

  • Maintain social media accounts and support the department’s online presence.

 

3. Marginal Functions (10%):

  • Represent Student Affairs in university activities and settings as needed.

  • Assist with recruitment efforts for students and staff members.

  • Maintain membership and partner with  relevant professional/ community organizations. 

  • Pursue applied learning and professional development.

 

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree and 2-3 years experience in student leadership programs.

  • Customer service orientation with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard office software.

  • Excellent planning,organizational, Problem solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.

  • Proficiency in university functions and software applications.

  • Ability to handle cash transactions and maintain security protocols.

  • Access to university facilities and vehicles as needed
