Position Overview:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and supervising the Facilities Administrator and the Safety and Emergency Administrator, the Director of Campus Operations provides strategic leadership for providing the highest quality physical environment for San Francisco Bay University to carry out its educational mission. The key responsibilities include: (1) long-term facilities planning, design, and project management of capital projects; (2) environmental health and safety; (3) campus safety; (4) emergency management. Immediate priorities will be to co-lead the campus master planning process, to implement systems to effectively manage workflow, assets, and capital projects; and to assess and develop safety and emergency plans. This is a full-time salaried, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Capital Planning and Projects
- Provide leadership and technical expertise in long-range project planning, design, and construction; landscape planning; and maintenance and repair operations.
- Develop and implement a capital improvement and capital renewal program including oversight of renewal and replacement of facility and utility projects across their lifecycle.
- Manage contractors and vendors associated with facilities development and operations. Oversee the implementation and documentation of the University plans, historic facilities records and archives.
- Serve as the point of contact with appropriate city and county staff, agencies, commissions, and committees involved with approval, permitting and inspections of campus facilities.
- Provide leadership on implementation of federal regulations including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) construction and building accommodation requirements and CalOSHA and Fed- OSHA Industrial Safety orders.
Environmental Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations.
Campus Safety and Emergency Management
- Ensure a safe working environment that complies with regulatory guidance.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy and emergency response plan for the campus.
- Participate in and/or lead campus safety and emergency operations activities.
- Establish and maintain training programs to ensure a safe working environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a related field;
- 7+ years of demonstrated success in senior-level facilities management with an emphasis on quality service, responsiveness and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Experience in higher education facilities management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of all facets of major facilities planning, construction and maintenance operations including HVAC, electrical, and utility systems utilizing computerized equipment.
- Track record of managing million-dollar capital projects on time and within budget to clients' satisfaction.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of city, state, and federal regulations relating to building design maintenance and construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety planning and emergency planning and response.
- Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and manage teams to achieve department goals.
- Working knowledge of sustainability issues, standards, and energy efficiency best practices.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Exposure to weather fluctuations
- Physical demands include lifting, bending, sitting, driving
Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000
