Position Overview:

The Front Desk/Receptionist, which reports to the Senior Director of Admissions and Special Projects, will serve as the first point of contact at the university, providing a high level of professionalism and friendliness while managing the reception area. This role includes managing the reception area, providing exceptional hospitality services, and maintaining office supply and break room inventories. Additionally, this position will offer administrative support to the Executive Assistant, when needed. This position is a full time hourly non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Warmly greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Efficiently answer and direct phone calls; manage general email inquiries, maintaining high customer service standards
  • Maintain office supply inventory and break room cleanliness and stock.
  • Coordinate mail and package deliveries.
  • Assist with conference room scheduling and setup.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Work Hours and Location:

  • This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • The role is based on-site at our campus. Remote work options for this position are not available.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service or reception
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, and familiarity with office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move items as needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in an office support setting preferably in a higher education environment; or equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess customer service orientation, high level of professionalism, ability to follow procedures, and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Position requires excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable of general university functions and services.
  • Proficient with computers, including browser-based software services, Microsoft Office, and email.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Foreign language proficiency, spoken and/or written, helpful.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Job duties typically performed in an office environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs.
  • The employee is required to crouch, walk, reach, grasp, carry, and push.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit or stand for long periods.

 

Salary:  $52,860 per annum, depending on experience.
