About San Francisco Bay University:

San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), a small-sized nonprofit, WASC-accredited university situated in the heart of Silicon Valley in Fremont, California, seeks an innovative and experienced enrollment professional to serve as an Enrollment Counselor on a 3-month fixed-term contract. SFBU is a newly rebranded university currently offering degrees in computer science (BS, MS), electrical engineering (MS), business (BABS/MBA), and professional educational programs.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Associate Director of Enrollment, the Enrollment Counselor plays a vital role as part of the Enrollment team. This role is actively involved in recruiting and enrolling students through high school visits, events, and community engagement, including information sessions, college fairs, and workshops. This is a temporary, full-time position with an anticipated duration of three (3) months.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise prospective applicants regarding application processing and eligibility requirements.

  • Obtain all required documents for application review in a timely manner.

  • Ensure accurate and thorough evaluation of applications, including completeness of files, prerequisite coursework, and GPA calculations.

  • Actively recruit, engage, and enroll students into SFBU’s undergraduate programs.

  • Manage designated regions, including local and out-of-state travel.

  • Coordinate and implement outreach and yield activities (virtual and in-person).

  • Analyze and report data on assigned regions to identify trends and provide updates on recruitment efforts.

  • Participate in admissions events that accommodate prospective students and families.

  • Demonstrate alignment with SFBU’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Stay current on academic programs, student support services, and co-curricular offerings.

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with prospective students and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners to support recruitment efforts.

  • Guide applicants through admissions policies and procedures and respond to inquiries.

  • Evaluate applications and follow up with applicants.

  • Assist in the development of promotional materials for admissions initiatives.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 3–4 years of admissions or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during peak periods.

  • Excellent customer service skills with a high level of professionalism.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes methodically.

  • Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.

 

Compensation:

$71,000–$81,000 annually depending on experience.

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

  • Requires crouching, walking, reaching, grasping, carrying, and pushing.

  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
