Position Overview:
The Senior Director for Wellness provides leadership for student services that foster a holistic view of health and wellness on campus (e.g., mental, physical, nutritional, financial, and spiritual). The Senior Director will play a foundational role in enhancing student success by working with the campus and surrounding community to bring a sense of vision and cohesion to wellness at SFBU. The ideal candidate will have a sharp focus on student needs and a deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop a campus wellness center, including the program structure and services, mental health services/ resources, that meet external compliance and regulatory standards.

Provides individual and group therapy to students in a higher education setting.

Develop and oversee SFBU’s behavioral consultation team to identify and support community members experiencing mental health crises. Lead “after action” debrief to inform continuous improvement in resources and approach to mental health and other health-related crises.

Plan and develop wellness programs that extend beyond behavioral health, including services that enhance physical, nutritional, financial, and spiritual wellness.

Create a vision to support the development of a comprehensive wellness program that supports the unique needs of SFBU’s community and the university’s strategic plan.

Provide strategic and decisive leadership through the development and implementation of short- and long- range plans.

Align the roles and responsibilities of Wellness Counselors with academic advisors and other student support counselors to provide coordinated and meaningful support to students.

Develop, implement, and oversee budget and staffing plans to support SFBU’s wellness vision in alignment with broader university goals and priorities.

Develop criteria for and implement outcomes-based assessment tools using best practices and available technology.

Build community collaborations that benefit SFBU and its constituents in the surrounding area.

Service as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team.

Serve as a visible university leader and resource on all aspects of wellness.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in one or more areas relevant to student health such as public or community health, mental health, medical services, or a related field.

At least three years of experience in a higher education wellness program, or health care management position.

At least five years of progressively responsible experience in a higher education, health care management, or similar setting that demonstrates preparedness for the high-level administrative responsibilities of the role.

Licensed or licensed-eligible as a mental health therapist (e.g., LPCC, MFT) or psychologist.

Familiarity with NABITA frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
-
A terminal degree (Ed.D., Ph.D., J.D., PsyD., etc. in a related field) and experience including medical and mental health services is desirable.
