At Dice Therapeutics, we design and develop innovative therapies in immunology for patients with debilitating disease. Seeking to create a future where convenient oral medicines with biologic-like efficacy are available to patients with serious medical conditions, we are developing oral alternatives to medicines currently limited to injectable forms. We are looking for an experienced protein chemist to oversee protein production and crystallography at Dice Therapeutics. This individual will start a new group with a mission to provide high-quality custom proteins for the purposes of assay development (biophysical, biochemical, and cell-based) as well as protein crystallization in support of our small molecule drug development efforts. The successful candidate will interact broadly with members of the biology and chemistry teams to understand the particular needs of each project, and will then assume responsibility for the design of constructs and subsequent expression, purification, and characterization of proteins for the different purposes, including protein crystallization. This individual will employ both technical and managerial skills in order to achieve their goals, as their assignment encompasses a combination of building internal capabilities and leveraging external CRO.

Qualifications:

  • PH.D. with 8 years of experience in the design, expression, purification, and characterization of proteins in E. coli, insect and mammalian cells expression systems. Experience will ideally have been obtained in an industry setting. MSc level candidates with equivalent skill and experience will also be considered.
  • Additional experience and expertise in protein crystallization using traditional X rays or Cryo EM methods is strongly desired
  • A well-documented track record of success in the form of patents, publications, and/or contributions to IND submissions
  • Excellent managerial and communication skills
  • Robust experience with a network of external CRO in the area of protein production and crystallization.
