Your Impact at Kinnate

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and collaborative PhD (or equivalent) level Oncology Biologist to lead and drive small molecule drug discovery efforts in a variety of oncology indications. The successful candidate will become an integral member of an oncology bioscience team focused on the discovery and delivery of novel anti-cancer therapies from early discovery through clinical development. As a key member of the oncology bioscience leadership team, in addition to delivering on the oncology pipeline, they will have the opportunity to deliver impact in additional areas including novel strategic initiatives and capability builds.


Key Responsibilities:

Lead biology delivery (cell and in vivo pharmacology) for small molecule oncology drug discovery programs from target selection into early clinical development

Identify biomarkers for target and pathway engagement, understand target engagement requirements for response, potential patient selection hypotheses and combination opportunities in disease relevant

models

Accountable for the characterization of all aspects of human pharmacology, including PK & metabolism, PKPD/exposure-response relationship assessment, clinical bioanalysis

In addition to collaborating with members of QPDS, the leader of Clinical Pharmacology also works in close collaboration with the leaders in Biology Drug Discovery, Translational Medicine, Clinical Research and Biostatistics to impact experiment/study design and facilitate line of sight from Discovery to Development in areas such as translational PKPD, bioanalytical chemistry, and model-informed drug development.

Partner with internal staff and external partners, oversee strategic planning and execution of clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics activities

Adapt to changing project priorities and manage multiple projects

Direct line manager of lab and non-lab based scientists and mentor to junior scientists

 

The Right Stuff

PhD or equivalent or Masters with relevant experience in Cancer Biology or closely related area with a minimum of 10 years in biotech and/or pharma in early small molecule drug discovery

Demonstrated leadership of the biology and team at various stages of the drug discovery process

Strong track record of driving and leading projects from inception to clinical development

In depth knowledge of cancer cell and in vivo biology, along with techniques used to evaluate mechanisms of action of compounds

Ability to analyze, interpret and present biology data for a project enabling decision making

Experience in directly managing scientists and mentoring early career scientists

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively across disciplines
