Accion Opportunity Fund is an unparalleled financial support system that provides these small business owners with access to capital, networks, and coaching. In addition to providing resources and loans to small businesses, we also conduct original research, advocate for policy changes, and finance community construction projects in low-income neighborhoods through our New Markets Tax Credit program.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Financial Analyst’s responsibilities include helping with financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership. As a senior financial analyst, you will also be responsible for providing teams with financial guidance and assisting with monthly close reporting.


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities


  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements, reports, KPIs, and Prepare regular internal dashboard reports.
  • Assisting with budgeting and monthly close actuals import to budgeting system.
  • Understanding key business drivers. Gather, fact check and analyze financial, portfolio and program data.
  • Support with developing and building financial models.
  • Performing research and analysis as required.
  • Coordinate with IT as needed to implement data reporting improvements.
  • Proactively identify potential improvements to processes; implement improvements with self-direction.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports including financial and performance information.
  • Assist with the ongoing loan sales program including compliance and remittances.
  • Coordinate and oversee regulatory, compliance, and investor reviews and site visits as needed.


The Person

Highly qualified candidates will share Accion Opportunity Fund’s commitment to its mission and will embody the organization’s core values bringing a broad range of skills and experience including, but not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred and 3 years’ experience in corporate accounting and/or financial reporting at an organization of comparable complexity required.
  • Relevant work experience at a financial institution and/or non-profit preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in positions demanding attention to detail and proactive identification of variances or unforeseen complexities.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, model and present data in writing and verbally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and under tight deadlines all the while maintaining a calm demeanor and customer-service orientation.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and database programs; proficient in other Microsoft Office Suite products.
