Position: Inventory Specialist

Job Summary:

The Inventory Control Specialist will maintain the organizations inventory, ordering and monitoring shipments while maintaining accurate records of all procurements.  This position will also work as the liaison between the organization and the third-party warehousing firm. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate stock counts of inventory, coordinating new stock up and cycling of inventory.
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Provides inventory reports to purchasing and Finance.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made and cross reference and make corrections as necessary between third party warehouse, internal systems, and vendors. 
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or supply chain manager.
  • Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Assists with Monthly physical inventory audits.
  • Operates forklift truck when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with multi-Level leaders and external partners.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
  • Forklift operator certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of physical walking in and out of a cold freezer environment. 
    • 70% in warehouse/ working docks.
    • 30% office and clerical.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to navigate warehouse and reach items both high and low.
