Software Engineer

Green River is looking for experienced engineers to join our team. We are a 32 person web application development company, committed to crafting effective software solutions that promote public health, school improvement, environmental protection, and social justice. 


Qualifications:

  • ●  2+ years of professional experience with server-side web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Django, Express, Symfony, Laravel, or equivalent
    ●  A high degree of proficiency with relational databases, SQL, and ORMs
    ●  Very strong software design and object oriented programming skills
    ●  Experience with automated testing
    ●  Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
    ●  Ability to work independently to diagnose and solve problems
    ●  Strong English communication skills

Nice to have:

  • ●  Experience working in Ruby on Rails
    ●  Experience working with a team of engineers on a large code base
    ●  Experience working as a consultant or contractor
    ●  Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical discipline

A typical work day might include:

  • ●  Breaking ground on new features to establish patterns or prove out a design
    ●  Refactoring existing code to support new use cases or improve performance
    ●  Performing code reviews to ensure code quality and to mentor team members
    ●  Researching and evaluating new libraries, tools, and frameworks
    ●  Participating in meetings with clients and other stakeholders
    ●  Providing estimates, dependencies, and timing feedback in collaboration with the project manager
