Support Specialist

Green River’s Support Specialist will work with our clients to understand software issues they are facing, help determine underlying problem causes, answer technical questions, and work collaboratively within our broader project team to help resolve more complex system challenges.  This position will largely focus on our open source homeless data integration platform.

Our primary offices are in Brattleboro, Vermont, and we have distributed staff living and working around the country. The open source homeless data integration platform we support, Open Path, is currently used by communities and organizations nationwide, including non-profits, municipalities, and state government. We work with the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Allegheny County, PA, Michigan Coalition Against Homeless, the Texas Homeless Network, and many others. As a Support Specialist, you will:

  • Gather information from users to understand their questions and needs
  • Triage and help resolve urgent issues
  • Enter tasks in our internal work tracking system with particular attention to detail and scope
  • Work with engineering staff on tasks as required
  • Track and communicate progress on software issues to clients
  • Participate in team work sessions, including user experience and discovery processes with clients
  • Participate in the quality assurance testing of all software releases 
  • Write and maintain documentation and software release notes
  • Help with data processing issues and analysis

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Experience with Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS)
  • Understanding of web application development processes
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, facilitation, and follow-through skills
  • Comfort with change
