The Exactly Right podcast network provides a platform for bold, creative voices to bring to life provocative, entertaining and relatable stories for audiences everywhere. Created by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, hosts of the hit podcast “My Favorite Murder,” the Exactly Right roster of podcasts covers a variety of topics and voices, serving the highly engaged listenership of “My Favorite Murder” and beyond.

Exactly Right is looking for a full-time podcast researcher / writer to join the team. This role will service Exactly Right productions with research, story ideas, outlines, writing and editing scripts. This position reports directly to the Senior Managing Producer.

 Job Duties Include:

• Provide extensive research and write story outlines, present research in formatting best fit to each host, accommodate fast turnaround on edits and story changes.
• Fact check and give suggested edits to scripts, outlines and recorded material.
• Conduct archival research, transcribe or identify clips for licensing.
• Collate and accurately cite all sources.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects.
• Stay up to date with news cycle to provide accurate research for current events commentary.
• Contribute fresh ideas to keep content exciting and innovative, including suggestion of themes, stories, and content for upcoming podcast episodes and special projects.
  

Qualifications:

• 3-4 years related research and writing experience in podcasting, film or television.
• Strong foundation in script writing and storytelling.
• Experience in historical true crime a plus.
• Highly creative, organized, and able to work independently with little direction.
• Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
• Passionate and knowledgeable about the podcasting medium.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to maintain a high attention to detail and meet all deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Low ego, solutions-oriented team player.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and at ease with people from different cultural and educational backgrounds.

Work Environment

• Currently working remotely.
• Often required to work weekend and/or non-standard hours.
• Minimal travel may be required.
