Job Description:

This role will serve as the Guest Booker for all internally produced podcasts at Exactly Right. This includes working closely with podcast producers to understand a show’s needs and scheduling, a show’s desired guest list, and delivering a diverse slate of guests.

This position reports directly to the Senior Managing Producer.

Job duties include:

  • Manage guest bookings for all internally produced shows. Guest booking needs may span from comedians, celebrities, actors, and writers, to authors and experts on a wide variety of topics including true crime, national and international news, politics, pop culture, and more.
  • Communicate regularly and efficiently with podcast producers to understand their show’s needs, timing and scheduling, and to inform them of any promotional dates they need to be aware of when planning their episode release calendars.
  • Be constantly looking ahead to understand the specific needs and schedules of each show, including themed episodes, multiple-guest episodes, special anniversary episodes, hiatus dates, and more.
  • Aggressively pursue a show’s dream guest list, while also ensuring a show is booked out far in advance.
  • Prioritize diversity of all kinds, to ensure each show is delivered a unique and representative slate of guests.
  • Contribute fresh guest ideas to keep content unique and exciting.
  • Aid producers with receiving, tracking and archiving talent releases.
  • Provide weekly booking updates to Senior Managing Producer.
  • Along with producers, maintain guest databases for each show.
  • Be alert to opportunities for our hosts to guest on other outlets or as a guest swap.
  • Receive and review guest pitches with producers.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience working as a guest booker, preferably within the comedy world. At least three years experience working with high level talent.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about podcasting; familiarity specifically with comedy entertainment and the true crime podcast landscape.
  • Strong relationships with representatives including agents, managers, PR reps, and networks.
  • Excellent knowledge of national and international comedy scenes.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, able to follow production calendars and keep shows on schedule.
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to think creatively and come up with unique guest ideas.
  • Exceptional research skills.
  • Enjoys being persistent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and an ease with people from different cultural and educational backgrounds.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office environment, currently working remotely.
  • May be required to work weekend and/or non-standard hours.
