Andelyn Biosciences’ is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team as the Chief Commercial Officer.
The Chief Commercial Officer will lead the organization’s strategic marketing and business development activities from ideation to execution. This individual will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be a key part of the executive leadership team for the new contract drug development and manufacturing organization focused on the production of cell and gene therapies.

Under the guidance and direction of the Chief Executive Officer essential functions of the Chief Commercial Officer include at a minimum:
- Develops and articulates the overall commercial strategy and competitive differentiators for Andelyn by utilizing a deep understanding of industry trends and company offerings to maximize business opportunities
- Collaborates with leadership on setting the strategic direction for the company and on setting objectives to maximize the growth potential of the business
- Owns and develops the management of all strategic and operational sales, marketing, and customer relationship functions. Translates strategy into workable procedures and work instructions
- Provides market feedback to leadership regarding competitive offerings, prospect needs and generates product development ideas
- Builds and executes the national and international sales structure based on company objectives and market opportunities
- Plans and coordinates the implementation of business growth plans and strategic placement in the market in part by identifying and retaining key commercial talent
- Establishes short- and long-term customer engagement goals and has responsibility for ensuring revenue targets are achieved
- Collaborates with cross-functional leaders and external partners to pilot capabilities and fulfill client needs
- Provides strategic and tactical guidance to the Business Development, Project Management, and Sales and Marketing teams
- Collaborates with the marketing department to ensure the development of company branding, consistent with the mission, values, and goals of the Andelyn Biosciences
- Oversees the creation of client agreements including, RFPs, CDA, MSA, SOW, Price Setting, & Process Plans required for client productions
- Responsible for overall client retention and satisfaction. Maintains strong business relationships with new and existing clients
- Maintains compliance with applicable regulatory requirements for cellular and gene therapy products.
- Cultivates a diverse and collaborative team environment. Utilizes clear and concise communication to ensure high productivity and contribution to the success of department goals

- Ultimate oversight on development and enforcement of procedures and controls
- Establish a strategic process to control work procedure
- Complete budgetary control over the functions under their control also influences the organizational budget establishment
- Frequent travel required
- Responsible for hiring, development, and related personnel processes
- Mentoring and professional development of staff
- Make use of essential people skills, including the ability to develop subordinates
- Ability to manage and influence people in the direct and lateral support structure
- Ultimate decision-making latitude within their functional units and influences decisions on an organizational level

- Responsible for developing 3–5-year business plan
- Responsible for Revenue (P&L)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
- 15+ years of experience in the CDMO space and/or specialty pharmaceuticals
- 10+ years of sales and/or marketing, including 5+ years managing people
- Experience in gene therapy / viral vector manufacturing (preferred)
- Proven ability to build, manage, engage, and motivate sales teams to higher levels of performance
- Executive level communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong passion and curiosity for gene therapy and the benefits for patients
- Must possess relevant four-year degree OR relevant master’s OR relevant Ph.D., background in the life sciences, biotechnology, or gene therapy industries preferred
- Expert business knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of the organizational and functional areas. Advanced Leadership skills
- Top executive responsible for functional area. Responsible for setting and meeting functional goals that align with organizational strategy
- Prior management experience is required
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and adjust as priorities change
- Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) including data interpretation and reporting
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive work environment
- Must possess a client-focused mindset in daily tasks
- Must possess prior experience handling confidential information and the ability to maintain confidentiality
