WHIN is currently seeking a high performing Director of Curriculum and Instruction ready to help grow a unique school community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity drive each and every day. Specifically, a Director of Curriculum and Instruction at WHIN is responsible for:
Managing the development and execution of a school wide math, literacy, social studies, and science curricula, aligning them with NY State Learning Standards
Leading the development and execution of grade level scope and sequences, pacing guides, and unit planning.
Designing and implementing student assessment systems
Serving as the Testing Coordinator for the school by generating and managing student assessment schedules, logistics, and data.
Observing and coaching teachers daily to help teachers develop his/her instructional strategies and improve student outcomes.
Contributing to the evaluation of academic staff.
Preparing and conducting professional development, data review sessions, and content-based team meetings.
Determining and coordinating high quality internal and external professional development opportunities for staff
Participating in staff recruitment.
Collaborating with other administrators to increase student achievement.
Creating and sharing accurate academic reports to the Principal in a timely manner.
Qualifications for the Director of Curriculum and Assessment are:
Expertise in literacy, math, and early learning processes
Proven track record for coaching teachers and increasing academic achievement.
Strong organizational skills
Keen analytical problem solving skills
Ability to work well on a team and communicate effectively
Ability to excel in a fast-paces, dynamic, and exciting school
Ability to work autonomously as well as take coaching as needed
Masters Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or other related field.
At least five years’ classroom experience
School leadership, teacher mentor, content coaching experience preferred
Experience in urban schools and/or communities
A sense of humor and kindness towards your colleagues
Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred
