Bridge Dermatopathology Services PLLC is a physician-owned practice that specializes in the field of dermatopathology. Bridge Dermpath is looking for an experienced histotech to joins it's growing laboratory in Tarrytown, NY.

Essential functions

· Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operations Procedures and perform lab procedures of moderate and high complexity in accordance with standards set forth in sectional laboratory procedures.

· Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turn-around time guidelines.

· Additional tasks assigned at the discretion of the Lab Supervisor/Manager/Director.

Competencies:

· BA/BS degree in Medical Technology or the Biological Sciences, or equivalent work experience.

· 2-3 years IHC experience or a minimum of two years progressive histology/pathology or medical laboratory experience.

· New York State licensure from the New York Education Department required.

· ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.

· Knowledge of special stain techniques.

· Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance in the laboratory.

· Prior Immunohistochemistry experience with Leica Bond or other IHC platform.

· Experience cutting frozen sections of cryostat and paraffin sections on a microtome.

· Grossing experience a plus.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills including mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills at the college level.

· Excellent computer knowledge, especially with MS Office programs.

Work environment: Laboratory Setting; exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, blood borne pathogens, chemical hazards, and sharp instruments.

Physical demands: The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to focus. Requires visual acuity and normal color perception.
