Position Overview:
The Senior NPI buyer will act as the key coordinator for material purchasing and product sourcing for non-production released products. This position will regularly interact with Engineering, Integration Management, Product Management, the Operations team, and MTI Partners to coordinate a high quality, timely and cost-effective release of new products to the general market.
· Responsible for sourcing of off the shelf items as required
· Acts as the sourcing representative on the NPI team
· Determines the best sourcing partners to support the project
· Send out request for quotes to suppliers and maintains current costing information
· Works closely with the Integration Manager to provide information to Product and Sales teams
· Place purchase orders for tooling and maintains asset tracing
· Places purchase orders as required for sample parts and ERP driven requirements
· Procurement representee in team meetings
· Participates in Phase gate reviews for the projects assigned
· Responsible for various departmental reports that include a wide range of assignments and projects (i.e., spreadsheets, documentation, management reports, presentations, etc.)
· Maintains confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters
· Acts as a mentor to production buyers
· Composes and prepares correspondence at a high professional level upon the request of the team members that may include confidential information, reports and/or complex documents
· Performs other duties as assigned
COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Qualifications:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Business or other type relevant study, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Ø Four (4) or more years as a Buyer or similar type position within a manufacturing environment specializing in electronic components, metal fabrication and plastic injected molding.
Ø CPM (APICS) certification preferred
Ø Solid understanding of MRP environment, how products are structured in BOMs, MRP software, and of how product flows through production
Ø Proven working knowledge and theoretical understanding of purchasing concepts and practices (i.e. negotiation skills, delivery requirements, quality issues, supplier relationships, supply strategies, master schedules, etc.)
Ø Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, make timely decisions, and schedule own work to balance ordering of parts with supplier management
Ø Desire and ability to continuously improve the purchasing process
Ø Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence
Ø Competent with MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
