This position is responsible for managing a team and growing originations in one of Verdant’s specified verticals. Responsibilities may include generating new Vendor opportunities and executing annual budgets for specified verticals, etc. The Vertical Leader is also responsible for their own originations goal as well. The role works closely with Verdant Senior Leadership, Capital Markets, Credit, Operations and Accounting. Position reports to Chief Commercial Officer.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Manage sales team and hold accountable to quarterly and annual originations and profitability targets
- Work existing book of business and new prospects to hit own goals as well.
- Understand the needs of Vendors and create programmatic solutions to help them sell more equipment through financing
- Share and report out to Verdant Senior Leadership on what’s going on in specified vertical for updates, Board Meetings, ad-hoc requests, etc.
- Spend time learning the company’s competencies, processes, capabilities, etc.
- Target OEMs, Distributors/Dealers, 3rd Party Originators, Resellers, etc. in specified vertical
- Work on marketing material and present Value Proposition to OEMs, Distributors / Dealers, 3rd Party Originators, Resellers, etc.
- Onboard new Vendor programs
- Structure transaction and pricing
- Act as liaison to Capital Markets, Credit, Operations, Accounting, and 3rd Party Servicers, and respond timely, prioritize accordingly and stay on top of all requests
- Communicate effectively with a variety of departments within the company, and function well within a team framework
- Work on special projects as required
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 10-15 years’ equivalent work experience
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication and listening skills
- Highly organized, self-starter, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and deadlines simultaneously and meet communicated deadlines
- Adherence to policies and procedures
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Relevant experience is crucial for the vertical represented
- Vendor program experience preferred
- Ability to lead and manage a team
- Ability to work on transaction / programs from beginning to end, getting them across the goal line (funding)
- Industry experience in financial services is preferred
Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
- Works with minimal direct supervision and is expected to work independently based on the goals and strategies of the organization
- Ability to multi-task, adapt to changes and execute quickly
Required Supervisory Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading, coaching, and developing direct reports, as applicable
Physical Requirements
- Travels as needed for Vendor / Customer meetings across the Country
