In the Greater Cincinnati Area:

Paralegal performs duties at the professional level in the following functional areas: supports and assists lawyers in the Legal Department, participates in strategic and tactical legal initiatives, provides lawyers with assistance on collection and litigation matters, manages the creation and collection of non-disclosure agreements, coordinates the work of outside counsel on bankruptcy and enforcement matters under supervision of lawyers.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Manage communications between outside litigation counsel and internal clients
  • Work closely with company stakeholders to implement legal and compliance initiatives
  • Compile and organize case files for collection and bankruptcy matters
  • Originate, review, and oversee non-disclosure agreements with the Company's customers and their asset vendors
  • Obtain and calculate claim amounts on collection matters
  • Update and maintain templates for various financing contracts and related documents
  • Draft standard litigation documentation under the supervision of internal counsel and effect their filing, including complaint and motions for default judgment
  • Prepare settlement and forbearance agreements for review by Company attorneys
  • Support projects relating to state and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and update the company's legal resources webpage with new material as needed
  • Collect and organizes corporate governance documents and record keeping, including minutes of board and shareholder meetings
  • Request and monitor service of process
  • Search, draft, and review Uniform Commercial Code financing statements
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of special purpose entities as needed with external funding sources
  • Prepare and present training sessions on legal, documentation, and compliance issues and best practices
  • Participate in the definition and development of corporate legal policies, procedures, and programs

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • 5-7 years' experience
  • Bachelors or Associate Degree
  • Paralegal Certificate helpful
  • Conversant with legal documentation, including contract formation and negotiation in a corporate setting
  • Ability to analyze financing contracts and related documents for content issues and revise contracts as needed to accommodate business circumstances
  • Possess highest of ethical standards
  • Corporate and/or outside law firm experience preferred

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft products and with legal software and other technology used in the practice of law
  • Drafting and review of legal documents
  • Conducting research via public sources and subscription platforms
