Key Responsibilities 

University Frames is looking for an experienced, hands-on, exceptional lead that is quality focused to join our moulding cutting team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate. You will lead the day-to-day production in the moulding cutting shop area, oversee daily team assignments, manage inventory of our wood mouldings. learn/cross train in the moulding joining area. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees daily workflow and schedules of shop employees. 

  • Sets up, maintains, and operates various moulding cutting saws and equipment. 

  • Cut length moulding to size with a focus on quality control and reduction of waste. 

  • Manage & tracks inventory of moulding raw material and daily cut frame mouldings. 

  • Implement effective and efficient moulding cutting procedures and best practices. 

  • Promote safety first work environment. Ensures all safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to. 

  • Make sure all paperwork is complete, accurate and processed for each job assignment. 

  • Meet and/or exceed daily department and personal production goals within the confines of the labor and materials budget.

  • Notify Production Supervisor of any quality, staff, equipment, materials or production related issues. 

  • Maintain neat and clean work area. 

  • Help to develop unity and teamwork. 

 

Experience/Education 

  • 5-Plus years of experience in high volume wood framing manufacturing, furniture, or carpentry… etc. 

  • High school diploma or GED 

Required Skills 

  • Expert knowledge on safe and appropriate use of power saws and other finishing equipment. 

  • Expert skills and knowledge of working with wood materials. Picture frame mouldings a plus. 

  • Able to work with minimal supervision and be accountable for your own & team performance. 

  • Strong leadership skills. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Expert knowledge of measurements using a standard ruler. 

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Good math and dimensional skills. 

Schedule Requirements and Physical Demands: 

  • Able to work an average of 40 hours per week, and a variety of shifts, which include days, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Standard work shift 7:00am – 3:30pm. May vary based on seasonal demand and shift requirements. 
     

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and carry loads and tools 50 – 70lbs as needed. 

  • Able to walk and stand consistently on your feet 8 to 10 hours. 

  • Must be able to bend, squat, reach, stretch and move to take accurate measurements. 

  • High Visual acuity necessary. 

  • Must be able to work in a noisy and dusty environment.
