Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; electrical engineering with a power systems focus strongly preferred. Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred. PE, PMP, and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Years of Experience: 7 plus years of relevant experience in transmission planning, interconnection, grid integration, and or power system studies supporting utility scale renewables and storage; utility, ISO or RTO, and or leading consulting experience strongly preferred.

Additional Skills, abilities & knowledge:

Demonstrated ability to model Vesper's values, Accountability, Respect, Courage, Collaboration, and Continuous Improvement, through day to day behaviors (e.g., flags risks early, communicates directly, involves the right stakeholders early, and documents and shares learnings).

Expert understanding of ISO or RTO interconnection and transmission planning processes, tariffs, and regulatory frameworks, including ability to anticipate and respond to process reforms

Demonstrated ability to own complex interconnection workstreams end to end, including constrained areas, significant network upgrades, and storage heavy configurations

Advanced technical oversight of transmission planning, capacity screening, and grid modeling, including ability to review assumptions, validate outputs, and explain implications clearly

Working familiarity with common modeling tools and data platforms such as PSS/E, TARA, PROBE, PowerWorld, UPLAN, and third party market and grid datasets as applicable

Strong commercial judgment translating technical outcomes into decision quality recommendations on capex, schedule, congestion and curtailment exposure, and project viability

Strong cross functional influence skills, including ability to align stakeholders, drive decisions to closure, and reduce rework without direct authority
High standards for governance and documentation, including disciplined assumptions tracking, risk registers, decision logs, and executive ready reporting

Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities, surface trade offs early, and deliver accurate outputs on deadline with minimal rework in a lean environment
Strong vendor and consultant management capability, including clear scopes, deliverable standards, QA QC, and performance accountability

Key Responsibilities

Define and drive portfolio level transmission and interconnection strategy for assigned markets and projects, including point of interconnection approach, queue positioning, and risk adjusted development sequencing

Lead high complexity interconnection execution through ISO or RTO and utility processes by driving application quality, study progression, issue resolution, and milestone discipline

Own interconnection agreement negotiation support by developing negotiation strategy inputs and risk positions and partnering with Legal and Commercial to drive decisions to closure

Evaluate adverse study results and develop mitigation pathways, including upgrade alternatives, phasing, reconfiguration, restudies, and withdrawal and re entry options, with clear go no go recommendations

Direct technical oversight of consultant modeling and QA QC by validating assumptions against tariff requirements, project design basis, and Vesper standards and by ensuring deliverables are decision ready

Advise Development, Origination and M&A, Engineering, Finance, and executive stakeholders on interconnection implications for valuation, siting, financing readiness, and commercialization pathways

Represent Vesper in ISO or RTO stakeholder processes as applicable and translate policy and process changes into portfolio impacts, risk updates, and recommended actions
