Senior Director, Operational Excellence

     AavantiBio is looking for an experienced Senior Director of Operational Excellence to oversee activities and reporting for the organization's operations, strategy, and processes.  This individual will report to the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel and be based in the Boston area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which management can evaluate the company’s efficiency and effectiveness; identifies opportunities for improvement.

·         Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures and processes.

·         Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.

·         Oversees different departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by executive leadership.

·         Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers, for major changes, meets with staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

·         Leads coordination and integration of efforts across functions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.

·         Lead development of KPIs and site scorecard in alignment with business strategy.

·         Develop and deploy site governance systems, visual management systems, data collection, and reporting systems.

·         Build organizational capability and provide training/coaching to departments and change agents.

·         Drive operational excellence collaboration across organization network and integration of best practices.

·         Build and leverage relationships across the matrix to identify opportunities for process improvement and facilitate the implementation of measurement and management systems.

·         Provides data and/or creates presentations for Board of Director meetings.

·         Analyzes and evaluates business cases for licensing opportunities.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

·         Master’s Degree in Business Administration required.

·         Minimum of 10 years of experience in biopharma or biotech operations function required.

·         Minimum of 3 years of experience with start-up operations required.

·         Experience with gene therapy business preferred.

·         Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.

·         Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office suite and related software.

·         Strong skills and success with project and/or program management.

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

·         Entrepreneurial mindset and a strong drive for change.

·         Has knowledge of and real experience with GMP.
