Scientist III Gene Therapy Research

AavantiBio, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated gene therapy research scientist with a strong background in molecular AAV Virology to join our growing science team. The successful candidate will support our discovery efforts, as well as preclinical and clinical AAV gene therapy programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a research laboratory
  • Optimize and execute viral vector production protocols, including staying up to date with current knowledge while driving innovation
  • Generate novel cell lines for recombinant virus production
  • Plan, design, and execute complex gene therapy research experiments in the lab
  • Support internal and external scientific research collaborations to increase team capabilities and address strategic needs
  • Take initiative to identify and support emerging technical approaches and gene therapy platforms that may drive increased value for pipeline programs
  • Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, collaboration and technical expertise as an independent and team player
  • Maintain organized and detailed electronic records in the electronic lab notebook to support internal documentation needs and regulatory submissions
  • Ability to multitask and contribute to multiple research projects under demanding timelines
  • Work as part of a multi-site team
  • Support and participate in R&D and project management meetings.

 

Experience

  • Ph.D. with 5+ years in molecular biology, virology with 3 years of relevant industry laboratory experience, with a focus on gene therapy.
  • First-hand experience with non-enveloped and enveloped viruses
  • DNA Virology techniques: viral vector generation and characterization, viral growth, titration, assays
  • Cell line optimization and characterization
  • Proficiency in tissue culture and recombinant virus work
  • Independently and proactively able to design and execute experiments including interpreting and presenting data.
  • Excellent bench skills with attention to detail and high standards for data integrity and quality.
  • Adherence to rigorous standards of good lab practices, safety, and documentation.
