Position Overview:

The Managing Director of Information Technology will be responsible for overseeing and managing our Development, Quality Assurance, and DevOps teams—currently a team of 16 professionals. This role is critical in ensuring that our technology infrastructure supports our business objectives, particularly in the eCommerce domain. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, particularly in AWS technologies, and experience in software development and database administration. Additionally, they must be experienced working with teams based overseas.

This position is a key leadership role that sits on the company’s Leadership Team and reports directly to the COO/Integrator. As part of our Leadership Team, this individual will play an active role in setting strategy, collaborating across departments, and driving business outcomes.

Due to the dynamic nature of our company, this role requires someone who can thrive in an agile environment. We regularly encounter high-priority, quick-turnaround requests and situations that demand fast decision-making and flexible problem-solving. This is not an environment with layers of process and red tape—our pace is fast, priorities can shift quickly, and the ability to act decisively with limited information is essential. The right candidate will embrace this challenge and help bring clarity and stability without slowing down execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the development, quality assurance, and DevOps teams to ensure the successful on-time delivery of projects.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our technology infrastructure, with a focus on AWS.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, testing, and deployment.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our systems and applications.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and partners.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to keep our systems current and competitive. Particularly in the arena of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Engineering
  • Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to team members.
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Manage resources and allocation to meet demand
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust IT security policies and protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection and cybersecurity standards including PCI-DSS and HIPPA.
  • Travel quarterly to attend Leadership Team meetings. Travel annually to meet with offshore teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and management, with specific experience in eCommerce.
  • Strong technical background in AWS technologies including but not limited to: EC2, RDS, S3,  Lambda, Load Balancers, Amazon Q and Amazon Bedrock.
  • Proven experience in software development and database administration.
  • Experience managing and working with overseas teams.
  • Actively and extensively uses Scrum methodology.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Team oriented
  • Familiarity with modern programming languages and frameworks including but not limited to: NextJS, NodeJS, NestJS, React, Laravel, PHP, Python, Java, .NET, MySQL, MSSQL, NoSQL
  • Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Ability to integrate and apply AI/ML technologies to optimize business processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation.
  • Understanding of the implementation and potential applications of LLMs, particularly in improving customer interactions, automating tasks, and enhancing data analysis.
  • Experience with Data Lakes and Big Data Management
  • Experience establishing and growing offshore technology teams from inception.
