Position Summary

Paralegal (Generalist) will provide support to our General Counsel, Head of Regulatory and Head of Claims among other internal stakeholders in the following areas: contract drafting and review, contract database and file maintenance, legal compliance, litigation intake and management, eDiscovery, document gathering and review, coordinating and supporting intake, information gathering, and filings, corporate governance administration and matters, research and special projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and administrative support on a wide array of strategic, operational, governance, business and regulatory matters
  • Assist in insurance licensing and corporate filings
  • Administer routine contract requirements, maintain contract calendar, prepare and file required filings, assist team members in corporate governance matters
  • Assist in administration of Board meeting process, maintain calendar, coordinate agendas, maintain database of resolutions, and prepare consents, delegations, and resolutions
  • Conduct legal research (including into statutes, case law and regulations) investigate and analyze facts and applicable legal requirements to support responses to legal and regulatory matters, litigation, internal investigations and other matters
  • Assist in compiling data for management reports highlighting legal developments and trends
  • Prepare minutes and other routine corporate secretary documents for Board of Directors; as appropriate, collaborate with Operations team to maintain accurate records and books, support research, maintenance and preparation for filing of applicable federal, state and local filings
  • Furnish all necessary litigation and discovery/eDiscovery support as necessary including file set-up and maintenance, document and fact gathering, review and preparation of discovery materials, and coordination of work through external counsel; coordinate with team members to create, maintain, administer, manage and enhance eDiscovery platforms
  • Document, update and enforce hold processes as appropriate; create well defined, well documented and compliant legal hold processes consistent with legal and regulatory requirements and to mitigate against spoliation and indiscriminate deletion of records
  • Support development of automated repositories for records retention, hold and discovery management purposes, including relative to capturing of appropriate content and controls across repositories
  • Performs other duties as needed upon request


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, paralegal degree or certification required
  • 3-5 years as a paralegal, preferably in insurance or in financial services
  • Experience with legal research tools and enterprise legal required, eDiscovery, and contract management tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, Cheetah, Exterro, Concordance, Quantivate, Legal Tracker)
