The Position
AREVON is recruiting for the position of Director, Construction, an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment as a key leadership team member of a rapidly growing company in one of the most important industries of the 21st century.
Job Description
This critical position will report to the Sr. Director of Construction. The Director, of Construction will oversee a team responsible for the successful execution of multiple concurrent utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, solar plus storage, and stand-alone storage). The ideal candidate has a verifiable track record of demonstrated successes and is willing to share experiences while coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues. They have a solid track record of collaboration and enjoy working as part of a dynamic and diverse team. They possess the technical skills required and have a background in utility-scale renewable energy construction, or project management. They desire the opportunity to team up with colleagues and thrive in an environment that requires flexibility and adaptation to constant change, shifting demands, and moving timelines. Strengths include organization, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines for various internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
· Led a team of managers and senior managers overseeing multiple concurrent projects.
· Oversee EPC contracting activities (initial negotiations, change management, contract compliance) to protect Arevon’s interests.
· Accurately assess, quantify, and develop mitigation strategies for all project risks.
· Coordinate with Directors of Engineering, Interconnection, Development, and Origination to ensure success across Arevon’s portfolio of pre-COD projects.
· Analyze and interpret regulations, policies, competitive landscape, and other market data or trends to drive project execution strategies and enhance Arevon’s future market presence.
· Prepare reports for various stakeholders which demonstrate trends, patterns, and predictions.
· If and when necessary assist in the requesting and hiring of additional safety personnel.
Requirements
· Can be located in Scottsdale office or remote.
· Ability to travel (anticipated at least 25%).
· 10+ years of relevant project management experience or 7+ years of renewable energy experience with a demonstrated track record of success.
· Knowledge of North American power sector and markets including legal, regulatory, environmental, and safety aspects.
· Strong organizational and proven leadership skills.
· Capacity to establish strong, positive, trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Track record of working well within a team environment, taking ownership of processes and procedures.
· Strong reporting skills and ability to manage large budgets and decipher trends.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office and associated products (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Power BI, etc.).
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively, and work efficiently.
Education Requirements
4-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, construction management, or a similar discipline. Advanced degrees are a strong plus. Other education will be considered with adequate, applicable experience.
