The Position

Arevon is recruiting for the position of Director of Development. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in one of the most important industries of the 21st century as a key leadership-team member in a rapidly growing company.

 

Job Description 

This critical hire will be a part of the Arevon development and construction team and will report to the Vice President, Development and Construction. The Director of Development will oversee the team responsible for the development of utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, energy storage). The ideal candidate will have demonstrated successes of renewable energy project development and experience leading project management and/or development teams. The responsibilities of the Director of Development include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead a team of Project Managers to advance project development activities from inception through construction Notice to Proceed, including land, environmental, interconnection, permitting, external affairs, engineering & construction
  • Manage and coordinate contracting for studies and reports (resource assessment, wildlife & cultural studies, etc.) required for development activities
  • Ability to navigate local community dynamics, negotiate with utilities, as well as landowners and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate, review, and report to leadership team and investors regarding project status, budget, and schedule
  • Analyze and interpret regulations, policies, competitive landscape, power markets, and other market data to drive development activities and enhance company’s overall strategy
  • Coordinate with Directors of Engineering, Construction, Interconnection, and Origination team regarding development strategy

 

Experience Requirements 

· Minimum 7+ years of experience in wind or solar project development, business development, or construction with a track record of project success

· Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple large teams on concurrent projects

· Demonstrated ability to accurately assess, quantify, and resolve project and contractual risk

· Solid understanding of the development process of major power projects

· Knowledge of North American power sector and markets including legal, regulatory, and environmental aspects

· Fluent in MS Office (Project, PowerPoint, Excel)

· 25%+ work travel can be typical for this role

 

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Environmental Science or similar. MBA a strong plus
