Job Summary

In this newly created leadership role, the Director of Information Technology (IT) will be a key member of the organization reporting to the VP, Legal Affairs & Business Operations. The Director of Information Technology will create and manage the strategic direction for the Company’s information technology (IT) operations, ensuring the department provides efficient and effective technology services throughout the organization.  

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage IT roadmap and strategy that will properly align with business goals and objectives
  • Lead development and implementation processes for the Company’s IT systems
  • Establish priorities for systems design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the Company’s information processing systems
  • Author IT policies and maintain documentation of IT systems and applications
  • Support development of business continuity plans and develop and implement IT strategy and protocols to minimize disruption to operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss
  • Establish IT standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure
  • Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs
  • Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information
  • Responsibility for managing overall Cyber Security strategy for the organization and facilitate IT security audits or investigations
  • Develop and manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers
  • Coordinate and manage multisite IT systems
  • Design and implement networking strategy for the Company’s new headquarters
  • Partner with the Finance organization to facilitate the department's forecasting process and ensure conformance to IT operating expense budget
  • Support the facilitation of strategic vendor business reviews; research, interview and negotiate with vendors to obtain prices and specifications
  • Conduct periodic review of software/hardware maintenance contract renewals and proactively contact vendors for quotes and submit purchase requisitions
  • Arrange end user on-boarding, off-boarding, provisioning, and de-provisioning
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience managing an IT department including experience in the biotech industry
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, FDA, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, GxP compliance
  • Experience with 21 CFR Part 11 and FDA guidance documents on principles of software validation and maintenance, supporting both on-premise and externally-hosted scenarios
  • Demonstrated experience in providing validation support of GxP systems used to support clinical studies (e.g. eTMF, Safety Databases, Data Warehouses, etc.) preferred
  • Technical experience with Quality Assurance
  • Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management
  • Prior experience building IT functions that enable the business through strategic support and decision making
  • Demonstrated project management experience implementing IT systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and management skills
  • Experience writing / reviewing IT policies
  • Thorough understanding of IT and practical applications to support the Company’s goals
