The Business Analyst is primarily responsible for gathering, analyzing, and documenting and visualizing the business needs for the Software projects and enhancements to existing software solutions, and translating the business needs and processes to software requirements and specifications.

 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of stakeholders, customers or end users.
  • Collaborates with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
  • Translates conceptual customer requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is understandable to developers/project team.
  • Develops and conducts peer reviews of the business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
  • Researches, reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Participates in the QA process to ensure that all core requirements are captured in test cases for the newly built solutions and that the implemented features meet the requirements and function properly.
  • Create wireframes, workflows, and specifications to refine the requirements.
  • Analyzes and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
  • Assists with interpreting customer requirements into feasible options, communicating these back to the business stakeholders, and ensuring that the final requirements match and fit the project scope.
  • Track any scope changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements, document them, and bring them to the attention of the senior managers for decision-making.
  • Develops and utilizes standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.
  • Manage project implementation by collaborating with the dev and QA teams and ensuring it is delivered on time and schedule for UAT.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent degree.
  • 5+years of experience of Business Analysis, Quality Assurance, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of software requirements.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of law enforcement operations.
  • Great attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • May require travel to the customer site for information gathering and observation.

 

Hybrid Workplace:

Soundthinking follows a hybrid schedule for employees who live equal to or less than 50 miles from one of our office locations, which include Fremont, CA, Tucson, AZ, Washington, D.C., or Iselin, NJ. Employees are expected to work onsite 3 days per week – the specific days are dependent on the office location.
