SafePointe’s AI‑powered, passive weapons‑detection bollards run neural networks on the edge, integrate multi‑sensor fusion, and must survive the rigors of real‑world deployment—from hospital entrances to NFL stadiums. We're seeking an Engineer who is ready to dive in, from prototyping and troubleshooting to delivering finished edge device products that meet our high standards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and review embedded firmware for real‑time sensor acquisition, ML inference, secure boot, and OTA updates—working closely with EE and Mech teams.
- Co‑design mechanical assemblies (IP‑65 outdoor enclosures, thermal management, vibration isolation).
- Debug mixed‑signal PCBs, tune power budgets, and validate EMI/EMC compliance.
- Rapidly prototype and bench‑test new sensing modalities (magnetics, mmWave, vision)
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with Cloud AI, Product, and Manufacturing Ops.
- Institute SDLC best practices for firmware/hardware co‑design: CI/CD, DFM, HAL abstraction, design reviews.
- Own OKRs for edge performance (latency ≤ 50 ms, TPR/FPR targets), cost, and reliability (MTBF, IP ratings).
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 + years total engineering experience delivering hardware–software products; at least 3 y ears leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Software pedigree—e.g., B.S./M.S. in ME/EE/CS or equivalent hands‑on track record across all three.
- Proven line management of small, agile teams (≥ 4 direct reports) and individual‑contributor excellence.
- Demonstrated success shipping safety‑critical or regulated hardware (UL/FCC/CE, ISO 9001, MIL‑STD, or similar).
- Mastery of modern Git‑based workflows, automated regression testing, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop pipelines.
- Clear, persuasive communication with execs, suppliers, and field customers.
