Overview of Advancement at Embrace
This hybrid team blends fundraising with cultural and creative programming, activations and storytelling, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building, marketing, project management, and event planning. As part of our bold campaign for belonging across research, policy, arts and culture, this team will bring together cross-functional synergies to mobilize a growing coalition of donors and supporters. Part community builder, part storyteller, part fundraiser, this position will be part of a team to deliver high-visibility, impactful experiences that strengthen community connection and advance organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Individual Giving
-
Manage a portfolio of individuals for cultivation and stewardship, including current, lapsed, and new donors.

Manage and improve systems for tracking, analyzing progress, and data reporting, including a database to support enterprise-wide efforts.

Support board communications, cultivation, and stewardship.

Institutional Giving

Manage a portfolio of institutional relationships for grant funding

Manage and improve systems for tracking, analyzing progress and data reporting, including application processes and grant reporting.

Production and Systems
-
Collaborate with the narrative team to amplify campaign milestones through compelling content and live experiences, including production of assets like impact reports, donor newsletters, website, and related social media campaigns/features.

Work closely with the Advancement team on the development assets and calendar for key cultivation and stewardship, including fall and spring appeals, giving recognitions, swag, personalized letters and emails.

Events, Activations, and Programs

Lead the planning and execution of a dynamic experience at Embrace Honors MLK to reflect the organizational mission, fulfill fundraising goals, and community engagement objectives.

Manage curation of special guests, honorees, invite lists based on fundraising strategy and relational priorities.

Lead custom events and programs designed for major donor cultivation and stewardship.

Work closely with cross-organizational team on the design and development of various convenings to support strategic campaigns.

Qualifications
-
2-5 years experience in fundraising, working in a non-profit, public relations, community organizing or related setting;

Proven experience in large-scale and smaller custom event planning and execution;

Familiarity with cultural and historical programming is a plus;
-
Deep commitment to building community, belonging and justice, with a strong understanding of structural inequities and social theory;

Strong organizational and prioritization skills, and experience thriving in a highly collaborative, multifaceted, and fast-paced environment;

Creates self-starting systems for continuous learning, keeps abreast of and adapts to a rapidly changing environment;

Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience building relationships, influencing stakeholders, and articulating the organization's mission and impact;

Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record developing and implementing creative and effective fundraising within scope and budget, under deadline, with minimal supervision and ability to influence others;

Strong attention to detail and experience with copyediting; grant-writing is a plus;

A goal-oriented person who can plan for the long-term and execute against measurable objectives and self-driven accountability;

Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, donor database systems (e.g. Salesforce, Bloomerang, Network for Good, etc), project management tools like Monday.com;

Experience with other digital media like social media, email management systems (like Klaviyo or Mailchimp), website platforms like Wordpress is a plus;

Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition), and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva) is not required but desirable.
