Role Description

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Development Manager to join our team, focusing on initial site due diligence, site designs – electrical, civil, and structural, estimating, utility coordination, and permits for Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging infrastructure deployment.

As part of the Operations team, this role will de-risk any site issues through due diligence, determine optimal site designs to deliver a best-in-class charging experience while reducing construction costs and lead all AHJ + utility engagement to secure permits and new or upgraded utility service for each site. 

Role Attributes

  1. Support deployment and execution for DC fast charging installations through front-end site assessment, overall design packages, initial cost estimating, site permitting, and utility coordination.
  2. Develop standard site designs based on pre-defined site archetypes.
  3. Work with the landlords to modify site designs and/or develop new site designs to accommodate potential site constraints.
  4. Manage vendor partners responsible for engineered construction drawings.
  5. Review plans for right-of-way/easement/property acquisitions at a project level.
  6. Serve as the main point of contact with utility companies to submit applications for service and manage the utility upgrade process.
  7. Serve as the main point of contact with each site’s AHJ’s and manage the permitting process.
  8. Review and approve any changes to site designs at a project level.
  9. Lead continuous improvement of the site design process to continually improve speed to market and charging customer experience.
  10. Facilitate field site visits for due diligence on construction, engineering, utility, and cost. Provide site reports and sketches as needed

Education/Experience Expectations

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in site design and construction required
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited program
  • General understanding of site design, utility requirements, AHJ permitting process and construction plan preparation
  • Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • A background in leading charging network deployment as well as an understanding of the current public fast charging landscape is highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication and project management skills to effectively progress discussions with important stakeholders
