The Principal Mechanical Engineer (PME) is expected to design and develop robust, high functioning solutions and technical support commiserate with the principal engineer designation.  Additionally, the PME is expected to review others work for technical completeness as well as mentor others within the Engineering discipline. 

In the PME role, you are expected to conduct yourself in the manners listed below and refine any needed skills to efficiently cover all responsibilities.

About the Role:

  • Motivating, positive, and success-oriented individual who is familiar with the latest development/production/rapid-prototype methodologies
  • Strives for the right balance between strategic planning and tactical execution
  • Defines initial project scope including proposal composition, leading, and delivering presentations, estimating, and establishing the most appropriate process and deliverable to satisfy client needs
  • Leads, advises, or assists in the design and execution of all projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time submission of deliverables
  • Works with and/or leads teams to create mechanical designs for overall packaging strategies, mechanisms, and parts. These designs are expected to balance function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements
  • Remains apprised of the progress of certain projects, paying particular attention to any developing problems, and participate in major problem resolutions
  • Communicates to senior management any significant deviations from project plans
  • Coordinates internal team staffing and budget requirements for projects
  • Works with clients on individual projects or as a team lead, team member, or support member on larger projects
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with your team throughout the project
  • Works with team members to estimate resource requirements
  • Works with team members to resolve conflicts among resources and between clients and engineering teams
