Goddard is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience as defined below to join our team. This position will be remote from the Goddard offices and predominantly onsite at a client location in Seattle.
Core relevant skills/experience:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Industrial automation and/or Medical Device
- Mechanical design and DFX, particularly with respect to sheet metal, machining
- Mechatronics
- 2D drawing creation, GD&T
- PLM
- Project management and team leadership
In this role, we will ask you to:
- Lead, advise and assist in the design and execution of projects from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time submission of deliverables.
- Work independently or with teams to design and test mechanical concepts for overall packaging strategies, mechanisms, and parts – all while balancing function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements.
- Provide DFX expertise to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, serviceability, and sustainability.
- Generate and review 3D and 2D CAD models and drawings, performing tolerance analyses as necessary.
- Lead a team of engineers to execute projects and provide guidance to junior team members.
- Work independently with clients or as a lead/team member on larger projects.
- Manage and facilitate client interactions with clear communication as it relates to deliverables, design reviews and deadlines.
- Communicate to senior management any significant deviations from project plans.
- Coordinate internal team staffing and budget requirements for projects.
- Be a positive and success-oriented individual who is familiar with the latest product development, production, and rapid-prototype methodologies.
- Work with team members to resolve conflicts among resources and between clients and engineering teams.
- Remain apprised of the progress of certain projects, paying particular attention to any developing problems, and participate in major problem resolutions.
- Be proficient in the latest version of SolidWorks CAD package.
- Keep all privileged information private and confidential.
- Regular travel to South Lake Union (Seattle) expected; other travel may occur as well.
