Goddard seeks a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with solid power, control and monitoring system design experience to supplement our long-term staff of professionals as we continue to grow and expand our markets. You will be involved with all phases of the design, specification, production, certification, performance, use and servicing of electrical systems.


We seek an individual with ability to independently complete custom power and control panel design and internal development projects. Candidate shall provide technical expertise for products and provide support for production/manufacturing, support to vendors and support to sales, service, and purchasing. This is a full-time on-site position. Occasional travel may be required. Our continued growth in both market penetration and new development requires expanding our already strong engineering department.

 

About the Role:

 

  • Design layout, schematics and run lists for panel boards as well as junction boxes to be manufactured for machine control.
  • Provide installation wire list for assembly of interconnection cables.
  • Design custom harnessing solutions for interconnected systems.
  • Provide engineering support to panel vendors and the manufacturing floor.
  • Parts Selection: Circuit Breakers, contactors, transformers, terminal blocks, terminal block modules, power supply modules, switches, cabinet assemblies and associated wire sizing. PLC modules experience helpful.
  • Parts Layout: Terminal Strip Assemblies, Power Cabinets, Junction Boxes.
  • Documentation: All panels must be accurately documented and traceable for field service and customer support.
  • Utilize the ECO (Engineering Change Order) process within a PLM system to document design updates
  • Schematic entry, BOM generation, Assembly Drawings.
  • Conceptualize, manage, execute and document equipment design from concept to completion.
  • Create detailed drawings for the manufacture of assemblies and components.
  • Evaluate vendor components, develop specifications, analyze/select materials and verify design accuracy.
  • Document testing and manufacturing procedures, create test reports, review system manuals and compile machine test data.
  • Test and debug PLC and HMI software.
  • Configure PLC network communications for SCADA systems.
  • Communicate technical risks, challenges, and status to internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in Goddard professional development, identifying or participating in industry- relevant events or training.
  • Provides technical leadership relating to Industrial Electrical Design and Safety.
  • Travel as needed.  A valid driver’s license is required.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7 plus years of control panel, schematic, one-line diagrams, and wire run list design.
  • Experience with Electrical Design software such as (SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD, etc) and the ability to learn new software and tools.
  • Experience designing low-voltage control systems as well as power systems up to 480V.
  • Experience designing to global standards, ability to design to and interpret all applicable standards (ISO, CE, IEC, NEC, UL, TUV) relevant to machine system installation location.
  • Experience in the design and selection of panels and components for control, monitoring and safe operation of turn-key industrial machinery.
  • Experience with all aspects of panel safety including but not limited to SCCR, arc flash, LOTO, etc..
  • IIoT/Industry 4.0 and Ethernet/IP communication protocols experience a plus
  • Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming experience a plus.
  • UL 508A MTR a plus
