As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible to grow profitable revenue by securing new business; prioritize low volume & contract manufacturing and include new product development. Maintain client satisfaction through effective account management activities. Target markets include medical devices and industrial automation.


General Responsibilities:

  • Build a well-qualified pipeline and execute each phase of the sales process to win opportunity.
  • Drive sales opportunities by providing leadership and orchestrating internal and external resources.
  • Continuously and consistently prospect for new business at existing clients and targeted client personas.
  • Support industry, market and competitive analysis anticipating customer needs to inform marketing and sales strategies.
  • Follow a consistent sales qualification process.
  • Communicate customer’s needs internally and provide the necessary leadership in preparing internal key stakeholders to develop compelling proposals. Use industry knowledge to understand competitive landscape.
  • Exercise flexibility with prospects to respond and adapt based on the their needs while maintain awareness of Goddard’s capabilities; be effective in engaging multiple buying audiences.
  • Effectively build customer rapport throughout the sales process. Develop champions and access economic buyers.
  • Discover and manage customer’s decision criteria, metrics for success, and contracting process.
  • Articulate Goddard’s differentiators with proof to achieve positive business outcomes.
  • Manage and report on CRM content including but not limited to accounts, contacts, opportunities, and lead follow through.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and Goddard information not yet known to other individuals, companies, the public, or other entities.
  • Be a motivating, positive, and success driven individual who is familiar with the latest product development & production processes, and commercialization methodologies.
  • Manage accounts, focusing on client satisfaction with consideration of contractual requirements and Goddard necessities. Participate in major rescoping, schedule changes, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate any significant deviations from project schedules to Senior Management.
  • Address outstanding invoices directly with clients.
  • Regularly attend industry networking events and trade shows.


Preferred Experience:

  • Previous business ownership or entrepreneur experience.
  • Med-tech industry expert within specific or multiple fields.
  • 5+ years sales experience in a business-to-business technical sales environment.
  • 5+ years sales experience in medical device industry and/or medical device contract manufacturing.
  • Development and execution of sales strategies.
  • Medical QMS and Regulatory.
  • Medical device product development process.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and a CRM platform (Hubspot, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of managing B2B sales processes and managing account(s).
  • Clinical applications and/or industrial automation.
  • Proposal writing.
  • Must have excellent verbal (presentation) and written communication skills.


Other:

  • Territory: Primarily the contiguous U.S. and Canada.
  • Travel: Required. Primarily domestic, estimated at 50% of working time.
  • Location: Remote; residence in the Boston area near the primary manufacturing space is preferred but not required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in an engineering, healthcare, robotics, or industrial automation related field; a master’s degree in a similar field or business administration is preferred.
  • Supervisory Responsibility: None.
  • Extensive hours: Occasional, as required.
