Project Manager

Goddard is seeking a Project Manager to join our San Diego, CA team. 5+ years of relevant experience in consumer product development, diagnostics development, and/or medical equipment and device development or equivalent, and 3+ years of project management experience preferred.

In this role, we will ask you to:

1.       Provide informed, detailed guidance to clients looking for Goddard’s leadership and experience in product development. Communicate clearly with the client and empower the client with data to help them make confident, prudent decisions throughout the product development process.

2.     Aid in the winning of projects.

                        a.      Rapidly come up to speed on the project based on RFP documentation

                        b.      Work with the clients’ business and technical teams to understand, refine, and agree on the development projects and 

                        product needs.

c.      Work with the Business Development, Engineering Managers and Directors of Program Management to determine resources, effort, and time needed to complete a project or how to provide consultation support on an ongoing basis.

d.      Work with the Goddard business development team to generate proposals

e.      Present proposals to clients and help define and maintain expectations.

3.     Kick off Projects

a.      Generate risk profile and requirements

b.      Onboard the assigned project team

c.      Generate schedules, tasks, and assign work to the team.

d.      Set up communication channels and cadence with the client.

    i.     Daily phone call or email if needed.

    ii.     Weekly Meetings

    iii.     Phase end deliverables

e.      Follow up all meeting and pertinent conversations with notes shared to all stakeholders.

4.     Deliver profitable project outcomes for Goddard through effective management of clients and internal teams

a.      Own the project’s vision

b.      Track budget usage and project progress

c.      Motivate and manage individual team members as well as the team dynamic

d.      Generate dashboards and/or presentations to present to internal management and/or the client

e.      Maintain a strong and open relationship with the client

f.       Ensure compliance of program with Goddard SOP guidelines

g.      Coordinate all aspects of program activities between the client and Goddard engineering, ID, quality, regulatory, testing, documentation, etc.

h.      Responsible for the completion of all deliverables per proposal

5.     Assist with developing and refining best practices for project management within Goddard

6.     Other Responsibilities

a.      At times, required to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

b.      Travel as-needed (driver’s license required).

2.     Ability to discern and understand client’s product and business needs

3.     Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with the client, technical team, and business development team

4.     Ability to lead large, high caliber design and development teams

5.     Understanding of the end-to-end product development process

6.     Schedule and resource estimation and maintenance

7.      Ability to understand complex technical challenges, be able to communicate the challenges internally and to the client, and drive the team to the solution

8.     Ability to make the informed decisions necessary to keep schedules and budgets on track

9.     Flexibility and acumen to perform and manage a wide range of activities, whether experienced in them or not

Preferred Skills:

1.      Experience in the development and management of products in regulated environments

2.     Experience with medical device development

3.     Agile development and tracking

4.     PMP Certification

5.     Conflict resolution

Regarding Computer & Software Use, you are expected to be proficient in:

1.      Microsoft Project (or equivalent Gantt programs)

2.     Microsoft Office Suite

3.     Asana, Jira or other task tracking experience is a bonus
