School Overview:
NYC Charter School of the Arts (CSA) is an arts-integrated charter school located in the financial district of Manhattan. Currently in its 6th year of operation, we are looking for a middle school science teacher to join our team for the 2022-2023 school year. The mission of CSA is to inspire a diverse community of young people to engage with the arts as a pathway to rich and rigorous academic scholarship and a creative, purposeful life. We accomplish this as a school community through three domains: Create, Learn & Thrive.
Job Summary
As a science teacher you will be in charge of teaching a full-time teacher course load of fours, using and modifying the curriculum that has been established for that grade. You will work in coordination with the other Science teachers and the Department Head to modify the curriculum as deemed necessary for your students.
As an arts-integrated school, artistic practice, content and appreciation is embedded in academic curriculum, and staff are expected to work towards integration of artistic practice and assessments inooms. In addition to your academic responsibilities, you will work closely with the socio-emotional learning team to implement an “advisory” curriculum to a small group of students daily.

Job Responsibilities

Implement and modify curricula and activities to meet NYS Next Generation Science Standards aligned standards for your sciences;

Furnish unit and lesson plans for yours to your Instructional Leader on a regular basis;

Utilize and manage student data (ie: grades, assessments, attendance, etc);

Co-plan with Special Education Teachers to modify instruction for neurodiverse learners;

Participate in professional learning communities and weekly professional development;

Attend and participate in arts-integrated professional development and content development;

With support, deliver a socioemotional curriculum to a group of ‘advisees’;

Fulfill other responsibilities in collaboration with the Department Head, Director of Teaching and Learning and / or grade-level team;
The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred)

2-3 yearsoom teaching experience; Middle School preferred

Strong pedagogical and content knowledge in Science

Background experience in implementation of NYS Next Generation Science Standards

Desire to grow as a professional educator

Exceptional ability to participate in community learning
