Job Summary
Query.AI needs a software architect that knows how to build for the cloud to guide the development of the next generation of our SaaS product that performs distributed search operations across disparate data sources. This person will be a key technical leader who shapes our engineering culture and technical choices.
This is not an ivory tower architect position. You'll be measured on the quality of your designs and on how effectively you help the team, but you'll be free to write production code and expected to write infrastructure as code.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a technical vision for Query.AI's next generation SaaS product.
- Optimize technical designs to be performant, maintainable, and cost effective in AWS.
- Lead the team in the use of good engineering practices.
- Partner with Product Management and Experience Design to ensure that concepts are technically feasible and practical.
- Align technology to company vision and customer needs.
- Mentor and guide promising mid-career engineers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of modern system design patterns and engineering practices.
- Excellent knowledge of designing for AWS and a familiarity with the Well-Architected framework.
- Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms is a plus. We won't make you sort a binary tree in your interview, but our distributed search technology is an important differentiator.
- The ability to listen and communicate effectively with diverse teammates.
- Insatiable professional curiosity and strong but loosely held opinions.
- Experience building and operating SaaS solutions that are highly observable, resilient, and compliant.
The successful candidate will likely have 7 or more years of experience building software and at least a bachelors degree in computer science or a related field.
