Role and Responsibilities

Primergy Solar Management, LLC is hiring a Director, Energy Storage Engineering in Oakland, CA to lead testing, evaluation, and certification strategies for Primergy energy storage systems. Duties include: Oversee project design and execution for solar energy and battery storage projects for civil, structural, electrical, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design. Prepare and oversee preparation of electrical designs including single line drawings, DC and AC wiring diagrams, electrical site plans, and equipment layouts. Understand and execute all supporting calculations for solar power plant design, including PV string sizing, DC, and AC conductor &amp, conduit sizing, tracker design &amp, and powering. Review specifications to ensure that designs are code-compliant leveraging familiarity with the latest updates to the NEC and NESC. Maintain familiarity with engineering codes and regulations applicable to solar BESS and auxiliary equipment, including but not limited to, ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA and NEC. Perform and review performance simulations to ensure projects achieve solar design objectives. Perform site-specific engineering analysis and conduct site walks to assess electrical interconnection. Meet with customers and provide engineering support including responding to RFI’s and evaluating and approving submissions. Support the procurement processes, including performing technical bid evaluation to ensure compliance to specifications. Serve as the single point of contact for EPC, Owner’s Engineer, and Customers on all technical issues related to execution of power projects. Monitor schedules, budgets, and estimates through completion to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Lead periodic review of engineering execution schedule, expediting of engineering teams, escalation of needs, and reporting technical delivery status for projects. Lead the planning, setup and monitoring of the project systems, inter-disciplinary workflows, and coordination of design activities through engineering disciplines. Coordinate and resolve inter-disciplinary issues. Manage the contracting of project owner’s engineers, vendors, and sub-contractors. Conduct regular meetings with international engineering partners to ensure successful project implementation. Review project documents and drawings to meet contractual obligations for document flow. Review and supervise project construction and testing. Assist in the specification, bid analysis, vendor selection, and capacity assessment for sourced equipment. Serve as the leader of Engineering process improvement initiatives. Support Project Managers in tracking and compiling design or specification changes and the resultant impacts. Routinely support Quality Assurance, Cost/Schedule, and other corporate functions as necessary. Continuously monitor new technologies for hardware and software/EMS design. Work with project development and project finance to support front end project development, design, and financing requirements. Telecommuting available. Up to 15% domestic travel required.

 

Education and Experience requirements

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Solar Energy Engineering, Green Technologies, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in each of the following:

·       Leading proposal creation for energy storage and hybrids and writing proposal content specific customer requirements and unique value points;

·       Creating high-level, detailed system design drawings, layouts, and schematics;

·       Specifying system components, calculating component ratings and quantities, and creating detailed bills-of material for material and labor cost estimates;

·       Interfacing with vendors to understand the form, fit and function of products and services, and determining which products are best suited for an application or project;

·       Assisting in developing software model architectures for various configurations of energy storage, utility systems, and renewable generation to be used in grid and stand-alone power applications; and

·       Utilizing value concepts and tools to define the right value solutions for individual customers.
