SUMMARY: The General Accountant is a salaried non-management position working alongside our Financial Analyst to ensure best practices with accounting and finance processes are streamlined 

RESPONSABILITIES:  

  • Manage all accounting transactions  

  • Publish financial statements in time 

  • Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings 

  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable 

  • Ensure timely bank payments 

  • Compute taxes and prepare for tax returns team 

  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements 

  • Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity 

  • Audit financial transactions and documents 

  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary 

  • Comply with financial policies and regulations 

  • Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances 

  • Prepare financial statements and budget forecasts 

  • Support month-end and year-end close 

  • Preparing financial statements, journal entries and account reconciliations 

  • Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas 

  • Assisting with budget preparation and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses 

  • Assist with internal control evaluations 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Previous Accounting work experience  

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 

  • Extensive use of accounting software 

  • Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables 

  • Experience with general ledger functions 

  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree 

  • Additional certification/ coarse work towards certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel)  

  • Well organized 

  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks 

  • Attention to details and accuracy 

  • Data entry and word processing skills 

  • Expanded Knowledge of financial, tax, and accounting principles

Salary Range: $65,000- $103,000
