Job Summary
The copywriter is responsible for developing conceptual ideas and creating copy for a variety of materials (social media, print, web, interactive, radio, video). The copywriter works with the creative directors, art directors, and other copywriters to interpret concepts into completed pieces and help guide development of supporting materials. The copywriter brings value to the entire storytelling process by contributing big ideas as well as fully utilizing each supporting medium to maximize the creative vision. Fluency in conversational Spanish is a requirement for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with creative director(s), art director(s), and copywriter(s) to develop high-quality campaigns and concepts for interactive, print, broadcast, social, and other forms of promotion for agency and clients
- Writes copy that help to build awareness of client brands, products, missions, and services
- Strives for excellence in storytelling
- Oversees copy for creative product from inception through completion to ensure a high level of quality and maintenance of concept through approval of design
- Conducts relevant research to ensure accurate, on-target copy and concepts
- Fleshes out social calendars and social content development
- Works with the creative director to develop and maintain content styles for the agency and all clients to assure consistent brand identity across all media
- Works with others to ensure that all copy is proofread from draft through final stages of each project, allowing a “fresh set of eyes” to examine the work
- Assists in writing proposals, marketing plans, publicity, etc., as requested
- Assists in drafting and refining promotional company copy, including newsletter, blog, and social content
- Contributes original material to agency blog on a regular basis
- Maintains current software skills compatible with the needs of other creative team members
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in an advertising/marketing/PR agency environment, or with a federal government agency
- Mastery of MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Google Drive equivalents
- Working knowledge of Keynote and WordPress
- Ability to stand or sit in a stationary position for prolonged periods (approximately 75% of the time)
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Excellent command of written and spoken Spanish
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, eligible for government clearance
